The everyday adventures of Nolan and Griffin

Mommy Guilt

on November 20, 2008

Nolan came home from school today with this “vacation goody bag” from one of his classmates. This is a very sweet and thoughtful gesture that unfortunately just makes me think “Oh great! I need to do something for his classmates too. How many weeks until the Christmas break?” I do not think I do a good job of keeping up with The Jones’. In my defense I did bring the class Halloween cookies with coordinating napkins “just because.” Does that count?

Really . . . a treat bag for the Thanksgiving Holiday! I’m crafty and I think thats a little over the top. My idea for a small gift for Christmas . . .
    1. Reindeer Candy Canes- Need Candy Canes, Pipe Cleaner, and small pom-pom to glue to the tip for the nose. If you are super industrious you put googly eyes on too. They are cute, edible, and best of all require no cooking!

You can never keep up with the Jones because the Jones are whacked out nut bags who set bad examples for normal families. Thanksgiving treat bags? That is insane. That woman needs a life.

A co-worker’s daughter just got $100 for a lost tooth and I had a hissy fit. WTF? She says that is what all the kids get in her daughter’s class. Are these the values we want to instill in our children?

Rebel!!! Stop the insanity! Your Halloween cookies sound lovely and fall within normal and acceptable generous parent behavior.
Okay, off my soapbox. (And CC- I used to LOVE those candy canes)

Maybe this mom did the treat bag because of HER guilt over your Halloween cookies……

I applaud you for the cookies….however, I think that the “vacation bag” thing is pure crap! Please, please don’t succumb to the pre-school cult!!!! I agree with Andy – those Joneses are whacked out. Did you ever get a “vacation bag”??? I think not…and you turned out just fine.
