Nolan and I spent the day at the Heard museum’s Dinosaurs Alive exhibit with Nolan’s friend Anthony and his dad. The Heard has placed animatronic dinosaurs all over the property, and you follow the dinosaur trail to find each of the dinosaurs along the way. Nolan, Anthony, and Anthony’s cousin Joe all had a great time.
As it was the guy’s version of a playdate, it involved walking sticks, homemade bows and arrows, mistaking a black wasp for a harmless flying beetle, and eating lunch without napkins or utensils. We even got cocky and took the boys on a hike through the trails that had been washed or blown away due to severe weather. This portion of the day was deemed “adventure jungle” by Nolan and Anthony. During the “adventure jungle” trek, Nolan continually announced that we were lost, but we shouldn’t worry because he would help us “find our way to California”.
All in all, it was a really fun day, and I’m glad Nolan got to have some “Griffin-free” time. I know he enjoyed it too.
Nolan and my dad went to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus on Sunday. This was Nolan’s first circus experience. James and I had wanted to take Nolan, but considering we were unsure when little Griffin would arrive, we had opted not to take the chance. However, when my dad called to say he wanted to take Nolan, we jumped at the chance to let Nolan experience the wonderful world of the circus.
