The everyday adventures of Nolan and Griffin

Celebrating Heart Day!

Today felt like a marathon in celebration of Valentine’s Day!  After spending the morning decorating the house,  shopping for teacher gifts, wrapping the few presents from James and I for the boys and filling out cards, the afternoon was spent at the boys’ school parties. Griffin’s party was up first with an unfortunate overlap into Nolan’s party. I felt SO guilty that I had to miss part of Nolan’s party, but as the Room Mom for Griffin’s class, I do not think it would be appropriate for the hostess to leave!

Craft time! Have I mentioned how much G LOVES crafting? It seriously is almost an obsession for this boy.

Once again Oriental Trading Company came through with Faith based Valentine’s Day crafts!

My sweet boy and a picture with the his friend Jake. What a difference six months makes! G looks so little next to him! And don’t you love the cookie hanging out of Griffin’s mouth?

Griffin is in the “Owl” Class and his teachers made the most adorable boxes for all their Valentine’s Day cards.

As soon as the party ended I raced to Nolan’s class party. We were 20 minutes late and I felt awful!! I need to clone myself.

G made himself at home.

The principal on the left. I love that she takes the time to touch base at all the parties.

Playing the game Hot Potato with a stuffed heart. Nolan made it to the finals!

After school the boys could not wait to open their goodies from us and dive into their Valentine’s cards from their classmates. I still remember how much I loved doing that as a child!

The student council at Nolan’s school hosts a fundraiser by selling “Smencil’s” (scented large pencils) for $1 a piece to purchase for friends. Nolan was so worried this morning he would not get any. He received four!

Whew! What a day! Filled with fun and of course much  love!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day School Fun for Nolan (and Griffin)

IMG_1790IMG_1778

Today my sidekick and I went to Nolan’s Kindergarten Valentine’s Day party. I jump at any chance to be in Nolan’s classroom. I love to see him interact with his classmates and friends. There is the whole other little personality that emerges at school.  It is a side of Nolan that I feel like I don’t really know. It is strange how that starts to happen when they start elementary school.

Here are a few pictures from the party.

Below are two little songs the class performed for the parents. Notice a certain little two year old that weaseled his way in. :)

Love is in the Air!

After almost three years of purposefully not volunteering to lead any class event for Nolan (Shocking I know! It even surprises me.), I agreed to co-lead the Valentine’s Day Party for his class. (Stay tuned for the blog post “Hostess with the Mostest I’m Not!”) After all the pre-planning, the party was a success!
The Set Up

Nolan’s Table Setting (His fabulous teachers get most of the credit for the decor)

Singing a Valentine’s Day Song for the Moms

Decorating sugar cookies!

“Mom!! I am decorating cookies here!”

Hmm. Pastry Chef he is not! :)

Always could use a few more sprinkles!

Face planting into the cookie!

The Class

Playing Valentine’s BINGO

The Goody Bags (Nolan gives a heart lollipop with his Valentine’s cards. Heidi gives everyone a balloon. SIGH)

BINGOOOOO! Too bad Nolan was the last one in the class to yell those words. Good news in Pre-K! Everyone is still a winner! :)

Best Buddy Ben!! (His mom was the other host) Notice that they are holding hands! So sweet!

And the best part of the Valentine’s Day Party? Well the snow of course!!!
